When a member begins to feel called to ordained ministry, there is a formal discernment process that connects member to both the Local Church and the Wider Church. If approved by the Committee on Ministry, member invited into that process. Process is described in Manual on Ministry.
Existing churches that are feeling called to entering into covenantal relationship and seek standing with the United Church of Christ. If approved by the Committee on Ministry, church invited into that process.
New Church starts work directly with South Central Conference New Church Development Team.
One of the covenantal responsibilities of Authorized Ministers with standing is to complete an Annual information review form. The Committee on Ministry confirm each person’s most up-to-date contact information and ministry setting as well as Association requirements for maintaining standing.
Search & Call takes considerable time and thoughtfulness, with prayerful attention to both logistical detail and the movement of the Holy Spirit. Authorized ministers and local churches work closely with the South Central Conference while moving through the Search & Call process.
