UCC Still Speaking Comma

Report on the Spring Meeting

Thanks to all who attended this totally Zoom meeting. We had over 50 attendees and had 17 churches represented. We appreciate your participation.

We had wonderful worship to start our day. I asked Glen Schoenberg to send us the new virus lyrics he wrote for that hymn. Look for the lyrics at the end of this report.

Follow up items:

If you haven't looked at the South Central Conference by laws changes (on the web), please do so. These will be voted on at the June 13, Zoom Annual Meeting business session. There will be two zoom meeting prior to this for questions and discussion. Please see the SCC link below for more info. You will need to contact the SCC Office to be put on the Zoom invitation list.

HOT will be collecting hygiene kits for Back Bay, to be delivered in September. If your church is working on these or have finished these, we can arrange for them to be picked up. Just contact Linda Coats or Liz Nash for assistance. If you would like to contribute money for these kits, which the HOT board will assemble, please send your checks to our treasurer: Joseph Ward 235 Spur Trail, Seguin, TX 78155. Please send these by Labor Day, September 7. Make sure you write "for hygene kits" in the memo line. You can also make individual contributions to Back Bay. Thank you for your continued support of this mission

We also voted to reinstate Friedens United Church (Gay Hill) to HOT and UCC.

It was also a special blessing to host two ecclesiastical councils for Kerry Kirtley and Arlene Turner. Both were approved for ordination pending a call.

And finally, we shared the stories of our churches and reports from all 17. We also had reports from Slumber Falls, The Committee on Ministry, and we met out new Consulting conference Minister, Campbell Lovett.

Blessings to all,
Linda Coats, Moderator and Executive Board

Pass It On extra verse written by Glen Schoeneberg)

It only takes a cough to keep this virus going
And soon all those around, can think "I heard the warning"
That's how it is with Covid
Once you've experienced it
It's tough to breathe,
Your friends all leave,
You hate to pass it on!

So wear a mask my friend, and keep your distance stranger
Stay hunkered in your home, to keep you from all danger.
This time is soon to pass, for sure,
Maybe we'll be better
We'll share more love with everyone
We'll WANT to pass THAT on!

"No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here."
